The Decanter World Wine Awards
The 2009 Decanter World Wine Awards attracted more entries this year than any other wine competion in the world, cementing its position as the worlds biggest wine competion. In total 10,285 wines were entered, more than double the ammount when the competion launched six years ago. The number of companies submitting wines increased by 23% to 2,240. This phenomenal growth is due to Decanter's reputation for using only the very best judges, coupled with its unparalleled global reach for results.
Decanter's rigorous judging process has often led the Decanter World Wine Awards to be referred to as "the terroir competion." This year judges, more than 50 of whom flew in from overseas, included top sommeliers. Only 64% of wines were awarded a medal and of these just 2.8% won a Gold Medal or trophy.

Wine & Spirit - Simon Woods
Lynchpin 2005 was rated 92 points in the January edition of Wine & Spirit (UK):
"Not only would I have been hard pressed to guess that Merlot was the driving force behind this gentle giant, I'd have struggled to spot the 14.5 per cent alcohol. Lush, but not too exuberant, with a savoury, plummy core and smoky, herby notes, this could almost be described as Chateauneuf-du-Pape meeting right-bank Bordeaux."
