Did you know that Table Mountain is home to more plant species than all of Britain? And the Cape Floral Kingdom (of which Table Mountain is part) has around 10,000 plant species – more than the entire Northern Hemisphere.

This amazing diversity (which is partially mirrored in the population of South Africa) is the product of soil and climatic conditions that vary dramatically, even over small areas.

While indigenous plants respond to varying growing conditions by creating new species, vines simply respond by producing fruit that has a different flavour, acid and tannin profile.

With its annual Wild Flower Show in September, where a selection of the approximately 1000 locally-occurring flowering plants is on show, Darling is the spiritual centre of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

Darling, of course, is where you find Cloof Wine Estate. Daisies are also amongst the flowers you'll find carpeting the landscape in Spring, so what to call our delicious blend of chenin and sauvignon, other than Daisy Darling.

Cloof is also home to a weekend-long rock music festival, called Rocking the Daisies. While it's on a much smaller scale than Glastonbury, you'll find the same kind of revelry (not to mention the occasional muddy field!).
