The oldest Pinotage vines at Cloof are 35 years old, which certainly qualifies for the term “vieilles vignes”. At this age (especially when grown as untrellised bush vines) the quantity of fruit produced by each vine is reduced, but whatever is lost in quantity is more than made up in fruit concentration and quality!

2002 was the first vintage at Cloof for winemaker Christopher van Dieren, who is something of an anomaly in that he loves making red wine, but prefers drinking white. From our library stocks we have a limited supply of the 2002 Cloof Pinotage, a medal-winning wine.
